Potential,
not a problem

Too many programs start with what a young person lacks. We start with who they are and who they’re becoming.

Most young people who come to Pathways have been let down by systems that saw their circumstances before they saw their potential. We do it differently. We meet them where they are, build the trust that’s been missing and back them with the relationships, the mentoring and the real work that lets them grow.

More than a job

We back the worker and the workplace

Most employment programs train a young person and send them into a standard workplace, then wonder why it doesn't stick.

Pathways works on both sides. As an Aboriginal-owned business, we walk alongside the young person and build the workplace around them, with mentoring, cultural safety and leadership that knows how to hold someone, not just employ them. That's how young people grow into real work, real responsibility and the kind of confidence that lasts.

Creating the foundations for growth

Potential First Pathways creates culturally safe environments with the conditions our young people need.

Connection

To mentors, to community and a team that has your back.

Cultural Safety

A place where you show up as yourself, not a version of yourself.

Real work

Learning on the job, earning a real wage and taking on real responsibility from day one.

An ongoing pathway

Into leadership, into a career, into mentoring the next person through their journey.

Delivering real outcomes

Since 2023, Potential First Pathways has walked alongside more than 100 young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and counting. The measure that matters isn’t how many start. It’s how many are still standing, still growing, twelve months on.

Pathways Journey

From uncertainty to opportunity

After struggling to find his place in the education system and leaving school in Year 11, Tyson wasn't sure what came next.

Everything changed when his Aunty Jolene encouraged him to join Potential First Pathways. Tyson completed training, secured work with Young Guns and gained his forklift certificate. Today, he's continuing to build a career and develop his leadership skills.
